How to Price a Membership or Subscription on Wix
Pricing is the lever that quietly decides whether your Wix membership business thrives or struggles. Too high and people never start; too low and you can't sustain it. Here's a simple way to set a price that sells and stays profitable.
Start from value, not just cost
Cost tells you your floor; value tells you your ceiling. Ask: what is this membership worth to the customer — in money saved, results delivered, or time reclaimed? A yoga membership that replaces several drop-in classes is worth more than the cost of the mat space. Price toward the value, not just the overhead.
Use tiers (good / better / best)
Most successful memberships offer three options:
- A starter tier for occasional members (fewer sessions / limited access).
- A core tier — your anchor, where you want most people to land.
- A premium tier for your most engaged members (unlimited / extras).
Three tiers let people self-select and anchor the middle option as the obvious choice. One flat price leaves money on the table.
Make the recurring option the easy one
If you sell both one-off and recurring, make the subscription clearly the better deal — recurring revenue is more predictable and more valuable to your business. A small per-session discount on the membership nudges people toward the commitment.
Offer a trial or intro, carefully
A free trial or discounted intro lowers the barrier to start — but make the transition to full price clear and automatic, or you'll collect triallers who never convert. A time-boxed intro ("first month 50% off") often converts better than a long free period.
Annual plans reduce churn
Offering an annual option at a discount (e.g., "2 months free") trades a little monthly revenue for a big retention win: an annual member can't churn mid-year. Many businesses push annual for exactly this reason.
Don't be afraid to raise prices
Raising prices 5–10% periodically is normal and healthy. Grandfather existing members if you like, but new members paying appropriately is how a subscription business keeps pace with its costs.
Watch what pricing does to churn
Price and retention are linked: price too high for the value and churn climbs; structure it well and members stay. The only way to know is to watch the numbers — MRR, churn, and how changes move them.
That's where Retainly helps: it reads your Wix Pricing Plans and shows MRR, churn, active subscribers and revenue at risk on one dashboard — so you can see how a pricing change actually lands — plus it recovers failed payments and wins back cancellations. Free to start on the Wix App Market.
Set the price from value, give people tiers, and then let the data tell you whether you got it right.
